Gertrude Stein

Championing the Avant-Garde

The Stein Arts Award is named after Gertrude Stein (1874-1946), the influential American writer, poet, and art collector whose Paris salon was a crucible for Modernism. Stein's keen eye and support were instrumental for artists like Picasso, Matisse, and Hemingway.

In this spirit, the Stein Arts Award, established by 50CA Asia in 2022, celebrates contemporary artists who embody a pioneering spirit. It recognizes those who challenge established norms, experiment with form and material, and contribute novel perspectives to the artistic landscape.
