How to Engage with 50CA Asia

50 Contemporary Artists Asia primarily identifies artists through nomination by our international network of curators, critics, academics, and partner institutions, as well as through ongoing research by our internal curatorial team. However, we are always interested in discovering new talent.

While we do not currently operate an open call system for direct award applications, independent artists are encouraged to ensure their work is visible within the contemporary art ecosystem.

Recommendations for Visibility:

  • Actively exhibit your work in galleries, art centers, and relevant project spaces.
  • Maintain an updated professional website and online portfolio (e.g., using platforms like Artwork Archive, personal website, relevant online galleries).
  • Engage with the art community online and offline.
  • Ensure high-quality documentation (photography/video) of your artwork.
  • Develop a clear and concise artist statement and CV.

Portfolio Submission for Consideration:

Artists who believe their work aligns strongly with the focus of the Peggy Art Prize (visionary practice, conceptual depth) or the Stein Arts Award (innovation, experimentation) may submit a digital portfolio for consideration by our research team. Please note that submission does not guarantee nomination or selection.

Submissions should be sent via email to submissions@50contemporary.com and include:

  • Subject Line: Portfolio Submission - [Your Name] - [Country]
  • Cover Letter: Brief introduction (max 300 words).
  • Artist Statement: (max 500 words) discussing your practice, themes, and concepts.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV): Including education, exhibitions, awards, residencies, publications.
  • Portfolio: PDF format (max 15MB) containing 10-15 high-quality images of recent works (created within the last 3 years), with details (title, year, medium, dimensions). For video/performance artists, include links to online platforms (Vimeo/YouTube preferred) with relevant excerpts (max 5 minutes per work).

Submission Period: Portfolios are reviewed on a rolling basis, but submissions received between January 1st and March 31st annually are prioritized for consideration in the following year's award cycle.

Due to the high volume of submissions, we may not be able to respond individually to each portfolio received. We appreciate your understanding and interest in 50CA Asia.
